Volunteer Opportunities at Resurrection: Items for Donation:
Resurrection is designated a "buddy Church" which means we provide volunteers who:
  • prepare meals
  • serve supper
  • visit with families
  • are overnight hosts
  • provide transportation
for a week at a time, while IHN guests stay at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church
There is a coninuous need for donations of "gently used" household items such as beds, furniture, lighting, school supplies, etc. At Resurrection, items collected from the Giving Tree go toward these needs. If you are interested in providing these items at different times during the year, please contact Joanne Markee at the Day Center for more information.
History of the Organization:
IHN is part of a national network called Family Promise which was started in Summit, NJ in 1988. The Rochester organization was born in March of 1999. Resurrection was among the original nine churches who received the first guests in March of 2001. As more churches came on board, Resurrection was able to move to the role of a buddy church as our facility was in constant use and we could more easily support churches that had more room to offer IHN guests.
