Meal
Every Parish Night includes a sit down meal in the Great Hall. Confirmation students seat and serve you. Sunday night the meal follows the learning activities. Monday night the meal is served at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday night the meal is served at 6:00 p.m. This meal is a special time for community building within our parish family. Come share a meal and quality time together. We request your prompt presence at the designated serving time.
Opening and Closing Prayers
Think of these prayers as spiritual bookends for the Parish Nights. The opening prayer service is 15-20 minutes long and designed to touch on the theme of the night, to heighten our awareness of what we will be learning and discussing as Catholic Christians.
We pray for many reasons: 1) to take a few minutes to leave behind the busyness and cares of the day and remember that we are children of God, 2) as people of faith it is good to begin any work we do by first opening ourselves to God and acknowledging God’s presence with us, and 3) to hear and sing music that will be used during the liturgical event (whether that be a Sunday mass or a communal reconciliation service, etc.) so that we may be prepared to participate more fully at that event.
Our closing prayer is shorter (5-10 minutes) and serves to tie the whole evening together. After having learned more about our Catholic faith, we go forth with God’s blessing.
Home Kit Materials
An important part of Parish Night is picking up selected materials. These materials may be found on tables in the gathering space or by the Great Hall. These resources are provided in hopes that the information will encourage and assist you in continuing the conversation at home, offer helpful suggestions for family or individual activities, and aid in deepening your knowledge of the Catholic faith.

Age Specific Breakout Sessions
Adults (grade 11 and older)
All adults, young and old, with and without children, are the focus of Father Tom’s teaching sessions. He uses the Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church as the foundation of his teaching, adding his own unique insights and style. These sessions are instructional and fun, and sharing is always a respected individual option. In the same night, parents also spend 20 minutes with their children (grades 1-10) to share what they have learned in a family style activity.
Youth
Grades 6-8 will meet for age appropriate teachings on the Catholic Faith as it concerns the Creed. During this time activities will be done in large and small group formats.
Grade 9 will meet with grades 6-8 until they form ninth grade faith-sharing groups in February. In February, ninth graders will become part of the adult session with Fr. Tom.
Grade 10 will be participating with the adults. Each faith-sharing group will sit together and discuss the questions Fr. Tom presents in the large group.
Children
Grades 1-5 will gather for age-specific learning. The children are instructed using various activities during the evening’s Catholic teaching on the Creed. Following a large group presentation, the children will further divide into two groups: grades 1, 2, 3 and grades 4, 5 with teachers guiding them toward a deeper understanding of the Catholic faith.
Family Time
Parents with children will come together in the Great Hall to support and reinforce what they have been learning during the evening. The Family Time activity lasts for about 20 minutes.
Pre-school
Sessions for ages 3, 4, 5 are held during the Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday Parish Nights. Our lesson is based on the teaching for the parish night, and is very similar to a Sunday School class.
Nursery Child Care
Child care will be available all three nights (3 years and younger.) The nursery is located in Room D. We encourage parents to check in before the evening begins. However, toddlers are welcome at anytime throughout the parish night.
