The Path to Happiness: Got Joy?

We will explore the true happiness that comes from making God the priority in our lives, trusting in God, and living for his Kingdom. We will consider the meaning and implication of the Beatitudes for our lives. In the Beatitudes, Jesus teaches us that God and living as his children bring true happiness. (Catechism of the Catholic Church 1716-1729)

Free to Choose: What was I thinking?

Nov. 8, 9, 11

We are created with the freedom to choose and act as well as the God-given ability to know right from wrong. Disciplesstrive to choose what is morally right. Participants will explore the meaning of free will and conscience, the role both have inmaking decisions, and specific ways to inform and examine their conscience. (Catechism of the Catholic Church 1730-1794) The Knights of Columbus will be serving creamed chicken over mashed potatoes, stuffing, & corn.

The Reality of Sin: The Devil Made Me Do It

Jan. 17 or 20

Participants will gain an understanding of original, personal and social sin; they will consider the impact of sin in their lives
and in the world in light of Jesus’ call to repentance, conversion, and the forgiveness we are offered through the Church.

Discipleship requires a commitment to understanding and modeling the theological and moral virtues in our words, actions, and choices. Participants will recognize the theological and moral virtues. They will explore the merits of cultivating the virtues in their lives and of striving to live consistently by them.

Commanded to Love: What's Love Got to Do With It?

March 7, 8, 10

The first three commandments remind us that we owe respect and faithfulness to God our creator, who is to be first in our lives. Participants will explore some of the challenges and positive effects when making God the priority in their lives. Living by the Fourth through Tenth Commandments leads to greater love of others. These commandments are meant to protect the dignity, lives, relationships, and possessions of all people. Participants will look at the basic meaning of each
commandment and identify some of the implications for living the commandments as disciples of Christ in today’s world.
