Experiencing
The Stations of the Cross
With Music

Music is a gift. Use sounds and music to conceptualize your own thoughts on Jesus and those affected by His death, including yourself. Some of my music choices may be for you, some not. Each person will respond differently but please enjoy. The experience in thought and meditation regarding Jesus will often yield wonderful spiritual experiences.

1st Station

Pilate Condemns Jesus to Death

Ryan Adams- "Wonderwall"

How did Pontius Pilate feel proclaiming Jesus' innocence? Jesus' followers watch as the public body convicts and sentences Him to death. His innocence understood by few. Did this challenge His follower's faith?

2nd Station

Jesus is Given the Cross to carry

Imogen Heap- "Hide and Seek"

Jesus suffered greatly as His followers watched Him carry all of humanity's sins on His shoulders. It is probable that even though Jesus was trusted emphatically, His suffering at the time was not easily understood

3rd Station

Jesus Falls the First Time

State Radio- "The Waitress"

Something very serious is going on in your life. All you can think about is that situation while others around you treat you as the same person. They are missing the transformation right before their own eyes.

Mother Mary embraces her only son. Jesus is unceasingly in pursuit of God's will. We can be thankful and celebrate this amazing sacrifice that still is evident in our lives today.

5th Station

Simon Helps Carry the Cross

Mason Jennings- "East of Eden"

Simon is forced to help Jesus. How has this event shaped Simon? Do we ever pick up the cross for others? Do we have to be forced to do this or do we do it willingly? Do we try to embrace the victories and defeats of life? Do we forgive others? Ourselves?

If Jesus decided to speak to Veronica, what would He say regarding His current situation?

7th Station

Jesus Falls a Second Time

Jesus falls again. Take a moment and reflect on all that is happening. What is going through the heads of the soldiers, followers of Christ, citizens and others? Are there examples of inhumanity today? how do you represent love towards fellow man? Who are we?

8th Station

Jesus Meets the Women

Alexi Murdoch- "Orange Sky"

Jesus seems so humble. He rejects tears in His name. He suggests these women focus on their children. How do we direct our love toward our family and friends? How do we show gratitude toward those who love?

9th Station

Jesus Falls a Third Time

Travis Meeks- "Dirty Road Live"

Life's journey can really hurt. What made Jesus continue on from this point? Why did He want to keep enduring the suffering? How powerful do you think His bond with His Father in relation to this fall?

10th Station

His Clothes are Stripped from Him

The Verve- "Lucky Man"

I cannot help but feel that Jesus had a moment of prayer and clarity at this point in His journey. Do you think He understands the beauty of the blessing He will bestow to all of humankind?

11th Station

Jesus is Nailed to the Cross

Coldplay- "Amsterdam"

Incredible challenges always help us grow. Jesus suffered greatly. His love for His father never wavered. Do you entrust your life to God? Do you understand how He will help you grow and drive you closer to Him even through suffering?

12th Station

State Radio- "Keepsake"

Think of all the love surrounding Jesus in His death. How does this example of community and selflessness relate to you in your daily life?
