Taizé Prayer

Taizé, in the south of Burgundy, France, is the home of an international, ecumenical community founded in 1940 by Brother Roger. At the heart of daily life in Taize is prayer. Three times a day, everything on the hill stops: the work, the Bible studies, the discussions. The bells call everyone to church for prayer. Hundreds of mainly young people from all over the world pray and sign together with the brothers of the community. The type of songs used are short verses repeated again and again, giving it a meditative character.
"Using just a few words they express a basic reality of faith, quickly grasped by the mind. As the words are sung over many times, this reality gradually penetrates a way of listening to God. It allows everyone to take part in a time of prayer together and to remain together in attentive waiting on God, without having to fix the length of time too exactly...To open the gates of trust in God, nothing can replace the beaty of human voices united in song.""Meditative Singing" The Taizé Community
We hope you will join us for this special Advent prayer.
