Baptism
"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you." (Matt. 28:18-20)
"Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit (vitae spiritualis ianua), and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: 'Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word.'" (Catechism of the Catholic Church 1213)
Baptisms at Resurrection:
Parents are required to attend a Pre-Jordan baptism preparation class. These classes are held the first Tuesday of each month. Please contact the office (507-288-5528) to sign up for a class and schedule a baptism.
Adults who are considering becoming a Catholic should consult Joann Reier regarding Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) preparation.
Baptism is future oriented. It is a personal commitment to the way of life Christ revealed. As an adult, we accept values that transform the meaning of human life to love and service of others. As an infant, our parents and sponsors teach and model these values until the child grows into them.
