Confirmation
"Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim." (Acts 2:3-4)
"And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, 'Receive the holy Spirit.'"(Jn 20:22)
"...the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. For 'by the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed.'"(Catechism of the Catholic Church 1285)
Confirmation at Resurrection:
Two years (usually grades 9-10) in our faith formation program are required prior to receiving this sacrament. Please consult Dennis Kunkel for more information.
Adults interested in this sacrament should contact Joann Reier regarding the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).
"The spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him: a spirit of wisdom and of understanding, A spirit of counsel and of strength, a spirit of knowledge and of fear of the LORD.." (Isaiah 11:2)
Confirmation brings an increase and deepening of the grace received at Baptism. (CCC 1303) Like baptism, confirmation is future oriented. It is a personal commitment to the way of life Christ revealed. As an adult, we accept values that transform the meaning of human life to love and service of others.
